Day 3 - Thursday

Woke up looking horrible. It looked like I had very bad acne. My face was just a big red rash. Also had them on my stomach, my bad was COVERED, not many on my arms or legs, I had them in my ears and on my lips, and worst was my head. I'm gonna skip talking about private areas. At first I wasn't too itchy. But at some later point in the day they started to get more itchy. I didn't want to take any Benadryl because I didn't want it putting me to sleep. I still had a severe headache, sore throat, and fever. Talk about miserable! I took a 5 minute shower, didn't shave, washed my hair very gently. I didn't put my contacts in. I wore my pajamas all day. This is the pits! And right before Christmas! I didn't have any appetite. Nighttime was awful-I was SOOO hot. I couldn't sleep because I was burning up. Derrick helped me a lot, getting me anything I needed (chapstick, drinks, etc.). We took my temperature in the middle of the night and it was 102.

Day 2 - Wednesday

Woke up having the same headache, sore throat, fever and little appetite. I went shopping again but only to one place. I had more itchy red bumps, including a couple on my face and chest. My back looked broken out. I thought some bugs really got to me. I was wondering if we have bed bugs. I looked on the internet to see if I could figure out what kind of bug was biting me. No luck. When Derrick got home around 7pm, the first thing I did was have him look at me. I asked him what kind of bug he thought it was. He immediately said, "that's not from a bug, that's chickenpox!". I was floored. I couldn't BELIEVE it. We also quickly connected the fact that the painful rash Derrick had on his stomach (causing back pain) for the last few weeks were shingles. Shingles?!?! I thought he was too young to get shingles!! This was very bad news. After looking at a few websites about chickenpox, I verified that's exactly what I have. Everything fit perfectly. I did touch Derrick's rash several times. We had no clue what it was, and even though it was pretty much cleared up we had never figured it out until right then.
I texted my boss to let her know. I didn't know what was going to come next. I called Steve and told him that Derrick would have to bring the food in after I went to the grocery store the next day, I didn't want to risk infecting them. Although I already had a feeling I might not even be able to go to the store. I didn't sleep well but it was mostly because of stress.

Day 1- Tuesday

I went out Christmas shopping and started feeling flu-like symptoms. I had a pretty bad headache, sore throat, and a felt like I had a fever. I was blaming the kids at the nursery-it wasn't unusual for me to feel sick the day after working with the babies. But I had just gotten over being sick a couple weeks ago and so it was extra frustrating.
I had to go to Derrick's grandfather's Christmas concert at 7:30pm. I knew I should not be going the way I felt, but didn't want anyone to think I was "faking". Derrick, Micah and I went to the food court at the mall to eat dinner before the concert. I really wasn't feeling normal and my headache was so bad that I wasn't really turning my head to look around. I didn't have much of an appetite so I just got a 6 inch sub at Subway (and ended up taking off all the chicken because I didn't like it). I decided to get some yogurt at Red Mango because I thought it would ease my sore throat.
I also had a very itchy red bump on my stomach but didn't think anything of it. I thought it was some kind of bug bite. It got more and more itchy throughout the evening but I didn't think much of it. I went to bed feeling sick and had the chills.
